Owner Will refuses to care for his own dog

The owner's dog had a severe rash that he refused to care for. We told him we were taking him to our vet, no charge, just to help the dog.

Glencadia Dog Camp has numerous positive reviews online. But there are countless tragic and terrible accounts from real people on Yelp and Google. Decide if it’s worth the risk to trust your beloved dog to William Pflaum of 3 Rybka Road, PO Box 40, Stuyvesant, New York, 12174, after reading these.

  • My dog was delivered to my home dead.

    In shock February 18, 2015

The kennel that boarded him. Called me like very thing was fine, I went to get my dog out of the van he had been driven back to NYC in and he was dead. I found him the driver who is the owner had know idea my dog was dead. My do tanka was six years old very healthy, he had a check up and all his shots 2 day before he was picked up. The name of this killers buniess is GLENCADIA DOG CAMP.

  • I got a phone call that our dog Coco was dead

    Stephanie Tawil

If you love your pet you will not send them to Glencadia. We had our dog for 7 years with not one single health issue ever. They had for not even three weeks and she’s dead. That’s really all you need to know.

  • My dog was nearly killed at Glencadia in 2013.

    Melissa January 7, 2016

I cannot believe the place is still in business. So many horror stories on Yelp and in the press, and yet somehow people aren’t getting the word… I tell every dog owner who asks about my dog’s permanent injuries, hoping they’ll remember the name and stop anyone else they hear plans to use the place.

  • STAY AWAY!

    Angela B.

This place abuses canines. If you google Glencadia and abuse you will find the news articles and GoFundMe pages for dogs that have been severely abused and neglected. I personally know someone who had their dog neglected and starved there. I'm surprised they are still in business and they should be investigated.

  • Do NOT send your dog to Glencadia

    Thomas Hunt

Wanted to let everyone know that my dog has just come back from the Glencadia dog camp and is extremely nervous, malnourished and generally not herself. They had 60! dogs there with only a handful of staff and it just seemed like a shambles. When they picked her up on Thurs, they put her in a cage in a van and this young guy who gave the impression he was a bit clueless and inexperienced just drove off. When they dropped her off, they didn’t know which dog she was and just said ‘take one’ we literally could’ve taken anybody’s dog.

  • Cost us $900 at the vet on top of paying Glencadia

    Anthony Murphy

We wouldn't let Glencadia care for our dogs again. We sent our two, Maisie and Lefty, to Glencadia for two weeks while we were away. The day before coming home, they alerted us that Maisie had a sore on her right front paw, they were not sure how it had happened, and said it was minor. When the dogs were dropped off we saw they were both very thin and Maisie's sore, larger than a quarter sized, was quite raw and open. Maisie had lost 18% of her body weight, Lefty had lost 8% of his body weight. Both dogs were severely dehydrated and needed subcutaneous fluids.

  • Do Not Bring Your Dog Here

    Alexandra Rezler

Read Timber’s story! They abused and neglected him for 20 days. He lost 12 lbs and was skin and bones, had raw paws and a scratch on his nose, a rectal and bladder hernia which needs emergent surgery. Do not bring any animal here.

  • My dog was neglected and miserable for several days, avoid this place at all cost.

    Justyna K. 1/6/2021

My dog came back limping and with open wounds on her paws from her care takers negligence. She stayed at the camp for 2 weeks and throughout that time I was told she was doing fine. On her last day I received a text with a photo of her paws... only then she was taken to the vet. Owner was telling me it happened on a last day as she was trying to get out of a kennel, claim that was not supported by the vet.

  • Our dog lost 15 pounds over two weeks at Glencadia

    Val T. 1/20/2020
Unacceptable. I took her to the vet about 4 days before for a spaying consultation and she was weighed. Picked her up two weeks later and she was worrisomely thin, her harness was completely slack around her body. We took her to the vet after three days of absolute lethargy (usually a very high energy dog) and they told us she had lost 15% of her body weight and put her on an IV drip.

Please make sure every dog in your care is fed/eating...that seems pretty basic.

  • Our dogs' ear had been badly injured, a result of another dog that bit her

We sent Bao Bei to stay at Glencadia for two weeks, thinking she would be in a supervised and safe environment which was NOT the case.

Upon her return, Will/ Owner did not inform us that our gentle & sweet dogs' ear had been badly injured/pierced, a result of another dog that bit her. And it was not until after Will left did I notice her injury. I texted him immediately with no reply. I text him a total of three times. To me, this is unacceptable and irresponsible behavior.

  • Your dog is as good as thrown in a cage with a bunch of other dogs with no supervision and left to fend for themselves

    Dec T. 4/4/2014
When my dog was returned he was shockingly thinner and seemed unusually skittish. upon closer examination I noticed 3 deep bite marks on his snout that were cover in dirt and scabbing and a giant chunk of fur and skin missing from the side of his leg at lest 3 inches long! When I confronted Will and asked him what happened, he had no idea what I was talking about! What made things worse was my dog was clearly traumatized from the experience at Glencadia. My well socialized dog had become extremely anxious around other dogs and some people! It took me months of re-socialization and lots of $$ on a behaviorist to get him back to his normal self.

  • I must warn anyone that cares for their dog away from Glencadia and its irresponsible burnout owner Will Pflaum

    Hector L. 5/16/2013
I contacted local attorneys in Sullivan County who said that there were so many uncollected actions against Will Pflaum, in addition to citations by the town, that it would be a waste of money, time and energy to try to seek damages.
